  MODIS Information

The Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) is a 36 channel scanner, sensing in the visible, near-infrared, and thermal infrared portions of the electromagnetic spectrum. This sensor is carried onboard the Terra (EOS AM-1) and Aqua (EOS PM-1) satellites. These satellites orbit the earth at a height of 705km and every pass of each satellite covers a 2330km wide swath. Of the 36 channels two are imaged at a nominal resolution of 250 m at nadir, with five channels at 500 m and the remaining 29 channels at 1,000 m. To find out more visit the MODIS page.
